Larz Stewart

Development Director

Larz was raised on the western slopes of the Wallowa Mountains in the neighboring Grande Ronde Valley. He went on to play college basketball at the College of Southern Idaho and Hawai’i Pacific University, and after spending over a decade of working in several large metropolitan cities across the globe - returned to northeast Oregon to give back to the people and place that helped shape his values and a strong sense of place.

Larz has extensive experience in program development, project management, marketing, and outreach. Former work experiences include being the director of Adventures Without Limits in Portland, the owner/operator of a world expedition company based in Honolulu, a sailor aboard a replica of a Ming Dynasty Chinese junk as part of a National Geographic funded expedition across the Pacific Ocean, a purchasing manager at a forest products manufacturing facility in Western Oregon, and a forestry field technician stationed on the slopes of Mauna Loa in Hawai’i. He holds an M.B.A. from Hawai’i Pacific University and has completed post-graduate coursework in sustainable forestry at the University of Hawai’i-Manoa.
