Brogan Watson
Wallowa canyonlands partnership program MANAGER
Brogan grew up on the other side of the Blue Mountains in the Walla Walla Valley. After discovering her love for botany, she enrolled in the Natural Resources program at Eastern Oregon University and spent summers as a Rangeland Technician at Starkey Experimental Forest and Range. She chose to continue her education and attended Oregon State University to pursue a Master’s in Rangeland Ecology and Management. Her thesis research brought her to Wallowa County, studying the effects of prescribed fire, livestock grazing, and invasive species on floral resources for pollinators out on the Zumwalt Prairie Preserve. This research sparked a passion for active management to facilitate natural processes and improve ecology at a landscape scale.
Post-graduation, Brogan accepted a position with the White River National Forest in northwestern Colorado as a Rangeland Management Specialist. In this role, she worked with 16 different livestock producers on over 290,000 acres of grazing allotments, implemented rangeland improvements, enjoyed advocating for the ranching way of life, and represented the United States Forest Service. Brogan is excited to return to the PNW and reside in another county without any stoplights.
In her free time, Brogan enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, watercolor painting, coaching volleyball, and being outside as much as possible. With values in restoration and preservation and an overall appreciation for ecological productivity, she is thrilled to be a part of the Wallowa Resources team.
