Youth Stewardship Education Program
Northeast Oregon's diverse natural world varies from an apline ecosystem high in the Wallowa Mountains to a desert landscape in Hells Canyon, providing the perfect outdoor classroom for Wallowa County's youth. Our programs seek to engage students with the natural world through inquiry-based learning and research. We have developed a diverse range of programs to serve local kindergarten through 12th grade students:
- OWL - An Outdoor School Program
- WREN - A Field Science Program
- HAWK - An Apprentice Program
- ACE - Advanced sCience Elective Courses
- WET - A Watershed Monitoring Program

Our Youth Stewardship Education Program goals are:
1) To increase science literacy
and provide context for learning.
2) To develop understanding of the linkage between human and ecological
communities.
3) To promote a sense of place and environmental stewardship.
4) To provide exercise and promote good physical health.
5) To educate our next generation of land stewards, decision makers, and community leaders.
